A January Wedding

I had the pleasure to be asked by Allan Tuan to shoot a wedding with him at the beginning of this month. Allan shot with me at the first wedding I ever photographed professionally (part one, part two) and I was glad to be able to return the favor. We had a great time and you can see some of Allan’s images on his blog. Here are a few of my favorite moments:
The bride and I grew up in the same church (her dad was and is the pastor) and my previous memory of her was as a little girl. Boy, do I feel old!

I know I’ve said this here several times before, but one of my favorite things about photographing weddings is being able to quietly document the bride and her dad in their last moments together before he walks her up the aisle.

If you’re on the main blog page, hit the link to see the full post and the rest of the images!
The bride’s dad also conducted the ceremony:

The lighting setup made for some really beautiful colors:

The groom hugging his new father-in-law:

I think this is my favorite series of images from the wedding. The groom was greeting guests in the foyer when his dad came up and grabbed him. I could hear him choking back the tears as he said, “I’m so proud of you!”

After his dad let him go, the groom’s grandfather embraced and kissed him.

The bride’s dad has always been into classic cars, so I expected something really cool for the getaway car. I wasn’t disappointed!

A few of my favorite moments from the reception:

Thanks Allan for the chance to shoot with you!
